Application of Finite Element Method for Mechanical Characterization of Wood and Reconstituted Lignocellulosic-Based Composites – A Review

چکیده
Performance evaluations of wood and other lignocellulosic-based composites involve complex scenarios several factors such as material heterogeneity geometry that often leads to complicated, expensive, time-consuming experimental procedures. Hence, the application computational modeling simulation is desirable mitigate these biocomposites’ performance testing challenges. This review paper, therefore, presents an outlook on finite element method (FEM) in probing characteristics solid wood-based well reconstituted composites. Notwithstanding nature lignocellulosic biomass, feasibility FEM characterizing their performances has been favorably demonstrated. Going forward, broader applications combined with design experiments would further establish developing protocols. More exploration FEM-based parametric optimization studies facilitate comprehensive, cost-efficient, swift biocomposites processes thereby enhancing acceptance implementation target applications.
